Hello hello hello!

Katherine Alberta (she/her) is a New York City-based playwright originally from Wilmington, Delaware.

Katherine's work has been read/produced with The Makers' Space, Daisy Theatricals, The Road Theatre Company, and Jane Street Collective. She has developed new works with Under Construction Playwrights Group (The Road Theatre Co.) and with Bloom! Festival (Daisy Theatricals). She has been a semifinalist for the O'Neill National Playwrights Conference. She holds Bachelors of Arts degrees in Acting and English (Creative Writing concentration) from Pace University.

Katherine loves satire and unhappy endings. Through her writing, she endeavors to capture the delightfully indelicate experience of being human, whether that's in ridiculous dark comedies about cannibalism or heartfelt one-acts about cum stains. She firmly believes that embarrassment and vulnerability are the best conduits for connection. She has extensive background in self-producing and in devised theatre-making, and she deeply values collaboration when crafting new work.

Katherine's plays are available to read on New Play Exchange.

I'm currently in pre-production for my first short film, an adaptation of my 10-minute play "The Comforter", directed by Sophie Sam and shot by Will Phelps. "The Comforter" follows a young woman on an unfortunate pilgrimage to a local-ish laundromat to get a questionable stain out of her bedding. Sophie and I met working on the play at Daisy Theatricals' Bloom Festival last summer and are now taking the story to the screen! Watch link to come soon:)
